Here is the 2nd page for my new Stitchbook Journal – a celebration of Me Made May 2018.
If you don’t know about it – Me Made May is an Instagram challenge to wear and post photos of handmade clothing throughout May. Last year I took photos everyday and afterwards created a double page spread for my stitchbook journal featuring most of the clothing. This was a good solution last year – as I had 31 different outfits to represent (although I just chose 16 for the page).
However, to avoid having to take selfies every day, this year I am only posting pictures of any new clothes I’ve made since the last challenge. So rather than have a large selection of images for my Stitchbook I wanted to focus on a few of my newer makes and create something special to celebrate them and the idea of handmade clothing.
I started with an idea of using the fabric leftover from sewing to recreate the clothing made from them, and then I remembered this amazing image I had saved on Pinterest a long time ago -by Anastaysia Kurbatova. I love the combination of photo headshot and stylised body, so I thought I’d have a go at making some for this page.
The clothing is made from leftover scraps from the fabric used to make the real clothes. I had a lot of fun making and decorating the clothing with embroidery thread, seed beads and tiny scraps of fabric.
Details of the clothing:
I have included the names of the patterns I have used for the clothing – the brand above my head and the specific pattern below.
For my lovely Facebook group members I’ve filmed a how-I-made-it video of this page where I explain the techniques and design processes I went through to make the page. If you’d like to check it out head over to my Facebook page and click to join my Stitchbook Studio group.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
