1 Day Workshop (Portsmouth): Introduction to Stitchbooking
Start your Stitchbooking Journey Here
This is an Introduction to Stitchbooking workshop that aims to give you all of the tools and advice you need to make your own Stitchbook – a textile memory book featuring your photos printed onto fabric.
This is a personalised workshop – I have a small studio so I run workshops 1:1 or in small groups. You can chose a couple of dates and check availability. You can also chose the times and whether the course runs over 1 day or 2 half days . They typically run from 10 – 3.30pm and will have a half hour break for lunch. Alternatively if there is a group of you interested I can travel to where you are based.
The course fee includes a Stitchbook Starter Kit (usually £35) which contains the construction materials for a 11.5 x 15cm Stitchbook with 8 pages. These include the background pages, the binding strips and rings and a selection of stampers and embellishments for you to use on your stitchbook.
Learn all the skills you need:
During the workshop I will guide you through the main skills needed to produce your Stitchbook including printing your photos onto fabric, adding text and constructing the pages.
You will have time during the day to try out all of the techniques and make a start on the pages for your own book. Hopefully by the end of the day you will have the confidence and understanding of how to complete the rest of your Stitchbook.
You need to have a basic level of sewing knowledge and have access to basic sewing supplies at home (not necessarily a sewing machine). Minimum age is 14.
After purchase I will email you to book a date and provide you with a list of suggested supplies to bring along, and instructions on simple preparations you can make, such as thinking of a theme for your book and collecting photographs.
It will be held at my studio (Number 6 Hotwalls, Old Portsmouth) which is a lovely place to spend the day.
There will be a break for lunch and you can bring your own or visit the fantastic Canteen. I will also provide tea and coffee throughout the day.
There are several parking options such as the Land Rover BAR car park and some on street parking.
Please feel free to message me or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about the workshop.
