Create a soft, tactile book
An Unstately Home
The Spinnaker Stitchbook Pattern is unique among my designs as a fully soft book, free of any metal binding hardware. This makes a book that is wonderful to hold. In this example I tried to add textured designs that would enhance that feeling further, so each page was a joy to look through.
The inspiration for this was a day trip to visit Calke Abbey, which is a property ran by the National Trust. It has parts that have been deliberately left in a state of disrepair, to show the decline many country houses succumbed to in the early 20th century. It is also filled with thousands of collected artefacts from taxidermy to Roman pottery, and i’ve tried to capture a sense of that here.
Make Your Own:
This Stitchbook has been made with the Spinnaker Sewing Pattern. It is an accordion-fold design with a hand stitched spine, creating a completely soft book.
I have also added metal corner clasps to add a bit of vintage glamour to the front cover.
