This is a large square blank felt sketchbook that has a unique folding design that allows you to add your artwork to a pre-made book without leaving any messy workings on the backs of the pages.
Easy to sew into using hand or machine, this book makes it simple to try out different textile art techniques and add decoration to the pages as you go along. This large size gives you the room to explore and tell longer stories. I use this size as a scrapboook/journal of the events I go to, recording memorable photos from each month or occasion. (Please note: The decorated example is the same size but a different type of book),
Each page can be removed from the binding to allow you to sew onto it using any technique, and then enclose the wrong sides within the pages, hiding all of your knots and thread tails. This makes it easy to create your own stitched journal as a keepsake, sketchbook or scrapbook - See example layout.
The pages are made from felt (40% wool, 60% viscose) in a natural cream. This is a neutral colour and will go with any colour scheme and looks nice if left uncovered in parts. Each page is secured with eyelets and ring bindings. As this is a larger book than the others I make, it has 3 sets of binding rings rather than the standard 2, which gives the spine extra stability.
12 blank pages (6 folded sheets).
Each book is made by hand.
Including ring bindings the book measures approx 24cm x 22cm (9.5″ x 8.75″) and the sewing area for each page is 21.5 cm x 21.5cm (8.5″ x 8.5″).
The book has a vinyl title ‘Stitchbook’ on the front cover and Stitchbook logo on the back. These can be incorporated into the design or covered with fabric or stitching.
Suitable for any level of sewing experience.
This size book is also available in a natural cotton and linen.
How to Use:
Pull the binding rings apart and remove one page.
Open the page out.
Add artwork to the sides facing outwards.
When finished, refold and add back onto the binding rings.
Close the rings by aligning clasp and pushing together
