Learn to Sew (with Rainbows!)
This is a completed example of the Rainbow Stitchbook Kit.
Each of the coloured pages has been decorated with matching coloured scraps of fabric, buttons and ribbon, to create a rainbow of stitched pages. This is a great first sewing project for kids as the simple shapes can be sewn on with basic stitches.
As a child I loved collecting buttons, badges and little bits of ribbon and I have designed this kit to appeal to a younger me! The idea is to collect coloured fabric and embellishments and then stitch them to the matching colour pages. This can be done over a long period of time to build up a collection, or in one concentrated effort.
This is a great way to learn to sew as there is no pressure to make a picture, no clothing seams that might come apart. The pieces of fabric and ribbons just need to be stitched into the book using simple stitches, and they will look amazing.
It is a great way to use scraps of fabric such as old clothes or off cuts from other projects. You can also use it to display achievement badges (such as swimming or gymnastics) or badges collected on days out.
