Learn-to-Sew Rainbow Stitchbook Kit

This is a child-friendly* Stitchbook kit, a great first sewing project to learn to sew using basic techniques, to create a unique and fun book.

Decorate the pages matching coloured fabric and embellishments to the colours of the pages. Use the provided materials to get started, then collect your own materials (old clothes/craft materials) to continue to add to the pages until you have mastered all of the sewing techniques and your pages are full of interesting shapes, textures and patterns,

The layout of the pages is up to you and I have provided a number of shape templates to help.

The book has my unique folding page design which allows you to open the page when sewing, and close the page to hide the tails and threads after sewing. Great for beginner sewers as you can make the back of the work as messy as you like!

The kit includes a 12 page instruction booklet with photo instructions of how to use the Stitchbook, complete basic stitches, use the paper templates and sew on a range of materials such as ribbons and sequins.

Materials pack including fabric, felt, foam and ribbon to get you started.

Some materials to decorate your Stitchbooks are provided, but to complete your book you will also need to collect some of your own materials. You can use anything colourful that you can cut up and sew - fabric scraps and old clothes are perfect! You can use craft materials such as fun foam, felt and sequins.

You will also need: Access to basic sewing equipment, eg. needles, coloured thread and scissors

This Stitchbook is also suitable for use with a sewing machine as the pages open out to fit under the machine. I haven't included machine instructions, but it would be a great project to start with - practising machine control and turning corners to add a range of fabric shapes.

Rainbow Stitchbook measures 16cm x 16cm (6 1/4" x 6 1/4") excluding binding rings and has 8 felt pages in 6 colours (4 folded felt sections).

*Adult supervison may be required depending on the age and abilities of the child. You will need to provide suitable equipment, and assistance when using needles and scissors.
